What Is a Tiger Torch?
A Tiger Torch is a propane-fueled torch commonly used on construction sites for thawing ground, heating materials, or drying surfaces. While effective, it poses significant fire and burn risks if not handled correctly.
Hazards of Improper Use
- Severe burns from open flame or hot materials.
- Explosion risk from damaged or leaking propane cylinders.
- Ignition of nearby flammable materials or gases.
- Carbon monoxide exposure in enclosed spaces.
Safety Guidelines
- Inspect torch and hose for cracks, leaks, or damage before use.
- Check that the propane cylinder is upright and secure.
- Only use in well-ventilated outdoor areas unless certified otherwise.
- Keep flammable materials far away from the working area.
- Light the torch using proper ignition tools, never matches or lighters.
Storage and Handling
- Turn off valves and allow the torch to cool before storing.
- Store propane tanks upright in designated ventilated areas.
- Transport tanks securely in accordance with regulations.
- Never store the torch with propane attached indoors.
At GamaSafety, proper torch operation prevents fires, injuries, and property damage. Ensure you're trained, equipped, and alert when using Tiger Torches on site.
