Why Respiratory Protection Matters

Exposure to airborne contaminants like dust, fumes, vapors, and biological agents can cause serious health issues. Respirators are essential for protecting the lungs when ventilation or elimination of hazards isn't possible.

Types of Respirators

  • Air-purifying respirators (APRs): Filter out contaminants in the air.
  • Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs): Use a fan to assist breathing.
  • Supplied-air respirators (SARs): Provide clean air from an external source.
  • SCBAs: Self-contained systems for high-hazard environments.

Proper Use and Fit

  • Always use the correct respirator for the hazard.
  • Ensure a proper fit—perform a seal check each time.
  • Do not use damaged or expired cartridges and filters.
  • Facial hair can interfere with the effectiveness of the seal.

Care and Maintenance

  • Clean and store respirators in a sanitary, dry location.
  • Inspect for cracks, broken parts, or deterioration.
  • Replace filters as recommended or when breathing becomes difficult.
  • Do not share respirators unless they are cleaned and disinfected.

At GamaSafety, we know that clean air is a right—not a risk. Respiratory protection is essential to safeguard workers from invisible but dangerous airborne hazards on the job.
