Types of Worksite Emergencies

• Medical emergencies (heart attacks, injuries, unconsciousness).
• Fires or explosions.
• Hazardous material spills or gas leaks.
• Extreme weather or natural disasters (earthquakes, floods).
• Violence or security threats.

Elements of an Emergency Plan

• Clearly marked exits and evacuation routes.
• Designated assembly areas and headcount procedures.
• Assigned emergency coordinators and roles.
• Up-to-date first aid supplies and fire extinguishers.
• Training in CPR, fire response, and spill containment.

Worker Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with the site's emergency plan.
• Know the location of exits, extinguishers, and first aid kits.
• Follow instructions from emergency coordinators during incidents.
• Report unsafe conditions or near-miss events immediately.
• Participate in drills and training sessions.
